"I want to live on Tracy Island where the people are cool and Spaceships come out of the pool"
I still love Thunderbirds. I think that growing up in the 60's and 70's gave me a huge inspiration for everything colourful and bold. Flowers, patterns and textures were everywhere. It was a time of great change and innovation.
Thinking about people, places and movements that inspire me, there really is an endless list, here are just a few. The great 1950's designers Robin and Lucienne Day. Matisse and the Fauves with their exploration of colour and style. Zandra Rhodes and Vivienne Westwood. Those glorious Art Deco interiors.
The Contemporary Art of the Crafts Council. The wonderfully peaceful Kettle's Yard. Avante-Garde Graphics and the influence of Poster design.
Growing up in the family shops, unpacking new products and being the first one to have the new cartoon pencil tops.
Standing on top of Hengistbury Head in Dorset and looking out to the world. Oh and I mustn't forget Laura Ashley and the lovely feminine maxi dress.
For today I love the way we are able to express ourselves with an eclectic mix of culture, tradition and fashion. We can relax and be ourselves, which is why I aim for my lifestyle collections to provide something for everyone. So keep looking there is a lot more to come.
